Hi, I’m Teresa!
I’m 23 years old from Wellington, New Zealand.
In 2018, God placed a call on my heart for Religious Life, and I’ve been discerning it ever since.
My first thoughts (after the initial peace & panic intertwined) were;
‘I’m so alone. No one else in New Zealand is even thinking of Religious Life. Is there something wrong with me for not desiring marriage? No one could possibly understand what I’m going through right now. And where or how do I even start?’
However, I’ve come to realise that these thoughts are all a total lie!
The more I researched, the more I realised just how many wonderful Religious there are in NZ. And the more I spoke up about my discernment journey, the more God placed other young women in my life who were discerning too. I don’t want this journey to just be about me. I don’t want other young people to feel alone, as I did.

vocation vacation
what made you decide to travel in a campervan?
At first, my dream just involved visiting different NZ Orders. But one night when I was particularly longing for a break from everything, it evolved into a proper road trip with my own tiny mobile home. A campervan has never been vital to my plans - I left it up to the last minute to source one - but there were lots of pros which helped me decide to try make it happen. Practically, it means if an Order can't host me indoors, I can still remain on site immersing myself in their way of life. It also means I have a small space to call my own as my environment constantly changes this year (which is something I definitely appreciate as an introvert!). But also, who doesn’t think of one day spending life on the road, exploring our beautiful country? The more I dreamed about it, the more I came to see how both my desire to raise the profile of NZ Orders, and to have a chance to recharge and focus on my own personal discernment, could go hand in hand! It helps put the vacation in Vocation Vacation.
