‘Cause although Consecrated men and women are human…
their way of life seems pretty out of this world!

If you have a burning question you’ve always wanted to ask someone in Religious Life, please leave a note here for consideration! I’ll do my best to get an answer.

Do nuns wear pyjamas?

Yes - as far as I’m aware! I have yet to meet an Order that wear their habits to bed (and I have asked a few!).

Do you have to be A different level of ‘catholic’ to become a nun?*

Often people think that Consecrated men & women are holier or better than the rest of us. But just because they have a different way of life to what most of us are used to, or might wear different clothing, I’ve learnt that that doesn’t make them any less human! I would say that the difference is in their relationship with God rather than their ‘Catholic-ness.’ Just as a couple discerning marriage would have a different kind of relationship to that of just friends, a Nun or Consecrated person has come to know God in a different way to what you might be used to (not better way, just different).

how do you discern well?

is there a difference between Nuns & SIsters?

Yes. Although these terms are often used interchangeably, in the Catholic church, a Nun is usually someone who lives a cloistered life (enclosed, in a monastery or convent) whereas a Sister is out in the community, ministering to those around them.
